A Newbie Vaper’s Guide To Cloud Chasing   no comments

Posted at 5:00 am in Uncategorized

We have all seen the monstrous clouds
filling the air in public or especially indoors at our favorite bar or vape
shop. Who hasn’t seen the large customized rigs that look as if they were
somehow brought to life from a Cyberpunk or Steampunk anime? Elegant yet
imposing, for many it sparks wonder and a yearning to join the artistic
expression of customization and the elitist class of cloud chasers. But before
you can join, you should take a student like approach to what cloud chasing is,
what tools and materials you will need and most importantly, the safety

Have the Knowledge Before You Chase the Cloud

Should you stunt vape or cloud chase?
Allow me to help you, they are the same. Cloud chasing is the current name of
the sport. Yes, it is a growing sport with fanatical enthusiasts. A newbie will
get lost in a conversation about customizing coils and OHM’s within seconds. If
you have decided you want to join the competition, you will find yourself
welcomed with open arms by the community; make use of the knowledge of the
veterans (for your safety) and your success. Besides, the cloud chasing
competitions aren’t just held for bragging rights; you can win hard cold cash
reaching into the thousands and an array of prizes. Basically, you can have your
vape and eat it too.

Physically Train for the Sport Newbie!

Now, obviously there is a physical
aspect to cloud chasing just like any other sport. If you have a huge lung
capacity, then you are already headed in a positive direction. If not, then
GOOGLE ways to expand your lungs. Next is absolutely key to your success…
Technique! It will benefit you greatly to research proper posture, inhaling,
exhaling and jaw positions. This will take months of practice but will eventually
become second nature. Your MOD is your tool to breathing life into massive vape
clouds; after all, what is the guitar without the guitar player.

Modding and Perfecting

Modding is a term
often used but it also has a very broad umbrella of topics. Let’s cover all the
different aspects that are likely to excite and challenge you.

Batteries: I cannot stress enough, the importance of choosing the
battery. Number one for safety, do not buy cheap unknown battery brands. Spend
the money and buy a name brand; preferably something recommended by an expert
at your vape shop. Here are a few brands you can trust LG, Sony, and Samsung.
If you like their televisions and smartphones, then buy their batteries. The
next layers have to do with operating temperatures and how much voltage the
battery will deliver to your coils. Obviously, you want the battery to stay
cool under the immense stress it will be faced with while trying to blow big

coil: coils and the materials used to construct them are an
integral part of modding. Popular materials include Kanthal, Nichrome, Nickel,
and Stainless Steel. They all have their strengths and weaknesses relating to
heating, cooling, and flavor. Most likely you won’t be concerned with flavor
while chasing clouds. A lot of vapers have builds for competition and builds
for pleasure. After research, you find that advanced vapers, many times, will
construct a build with two coils.

Wick: the wick is a cotton material of your choice that absorbs
the <a href="”>liquid to be vaporized. Again, this is something that has variation based
on preference and performance. Top materials include Organic Cotton, Cellulose
Cotton, and Hemp.

Build and Airflow: Something you will grow accustomed to, is the obsession with
low resistance and airflow. The lower the resistance the bigger the clouds you
can produce, but you will have to strike a balance because the lower the
resistance the more air flow you will need and too much air will thin out your
cloud. So, you will constantly see veterans experimenting with hole sizes,
placement, and the number of holes.

Atomizer: the atomizer is the device you will have constructed once
you’ve chosen all the necessary parts. When the wick is wet with <a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice, the
battery heats your coils which then vaporizes the <a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice.

RDA: rebuildable dripping atomizer or (RDA) is widely considered
a must for competitive builds due to the delivery system. In short, the <a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice
drips directly onto the wick. You will also hear the term RTA but the focus
here is on competition so go with an RDA.

<a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>E-<a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juices: the mix of your <a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice is key when it comes to cloud chasing.
It’s pretty simple, you have (VG) Vegetable Glycerin and (PG) Propylene Glycol.
For big clouds, you want a higher concentration of VG. A ratio of 70/30 or more
it all depends on preference. This will have a major impact on taste but again
the goal is to produce huge vape clouds.

Hopefully, this guide has not only
enriched your knowledge, but also has tantalized your imagination and
competitive spirit. Go forth and seek the knowledge of your cloud chasing elders.

Finding Your Right Throat Hit   no comments

Posted at 5:00 am in Uncategorized

The throat hit is a major determinant
of whether you will enjoy your vaping experience. Actually, in order for you to
enjoy vaping and avoid backsliding to traditional tobacco smoking, you must
first learn how to achieve the right throat hit. So, what is throat hit? It is
the tingling sensation that one gets at the back of their throat once they
inhale vapor produced by their e-<a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice. Here are some factors that you need to
consider in order to get a satisfying throat hit.

Factor #1: E-<a href="”>liquid Contents

Getting the right <a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>e-<a href="”>liquid at Vapin’ in the
Cape is the first step towards achieving the right throat hit. Therefore,
before you purchase an e-<a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice, it is always important that you check its
contents. Check for the nicotine concentration and the PG/VG ratio. Also,
remember that flavor will have an impact on the throat hit.

High nicotine levels in a <a href="”>liquid will
contribute to a higher throat hit. Hence, if you prefer a higher throat hit,
always go for higher nicotine levels. Propylene Glycol (PG) is a great source
of throat hit. It is lighter that Vegetable Glycerin (VG) and if used in a
higher ratio, compared to VG, you will get a punchier throat hit. As such, it
is advisable that you go for a lower PG ratio when looking for a milder throat
hit and vice versa.

As you look at the contents of your
bottled <a href="”>liquid, it is important to note the flavor and the impact that it will
have on your throat hit. Some flavors will reduce the throat hit while others
intensify it. For example, if you choose citrus and menthol flavors, you are
likely to get a more powerful throat hit than if you chose tobacco, coffee,
fruits, or sweet flavors.

Factor #2: Vaping Device

The vaping device that you are using
will have a great influence on your throat hit. If you are using high
powered devices, such as MODs
, then you are likely to achieve a higher
throat hit than those using regular electronic cigarette. The high wattages
that are released by these powerful devices will further intensify the effects
of other components of your e-<a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice that contribute to a sharper throat hit.

Therefore, if you are using a
high-powered device and prefer a lower throat hit, you might have to tone down
on the PG ratio and the nicotine concentration. Else, lower the wattage level
so that the throat hit is not too intense. But for those who like it harsh, the
combination of a good nicotine concentration, PG ratio and a high power device,
is just perfect.

Factor #3: The vaper’s Preferences

How do you like your vaping sessions?
Are you a cloud chasing lover but still need your throat hit right? If so, then
you have to learn how to balance the two. For those that love a milder throat
hit, try lowering the nicotine level. Also consider e-<a href="”>liquids that have a lower
PG/VG ratio. Because VG is thicker and is responsible for producing the clouds,
you will undoubtedly achieve massive clouds while maintaining the perfect
throat hit. However, if you only care about the flavor, to achieve the right
throat hit, you have to play around with the power settings, but first try
using a higher PG/VG ratio. As for the power, reset to higher wattages, if you
like a warm flavor.

Bottom Line

Throat hit plays a very big role in
your overall vaping experience. And, as can be seen, achieving the perfect
throat hit is not that difficult. As long as you select your e-<a href="”>liquid right and
know your preferences, you are bound to have satisfying vaping sessions.

Avoid E-Liquid Refrigeration If Possible   no comments

Posted at 5:00 am in Uncategorized

<a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>E-<a href="”>liquid storage is a
hot topic among new and experienced vapers. Some argue that refrigeration is
key to preserving <a href="”>liquid, while others will swear it is the source of the
problem and that it causes the flavor to turn bad. Once thing that is generally
agreed upon is that exposure to light and darkness is detrimental to the health
and longevity of the e-<a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice. The truth is that storing the <a href="”>liquid in the
refrigerator can degrade the quality and should only be done as a last resort
or temporary solution.

The main reason
refrigerating your e-<a href="”>liquid should be avoided is that the nicotine inside it is
responsive to heat and light. Ideally, it should be kept in a slightly cool and
dark area. The temperature in the fridge is far too low and will degrade the
quality of the <a href="”>liquid. There are also usually artificial fridge lights that
will interfere with the <a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice after being exposed. In order to avoid all of
this, simply store it at room temperature in a dark area and keep away from all

Failing to properly
store your e-<a href="”>liquid will lead to a rapid loss in flavor. It might even alter
the flavor completely and leave you with something you cannot stand to vape,
let only taste. Given the concentrated nature of the <a href="”>liquid, these solutions
are particularly susceptible to temperature and light changes. Storing the
e-<a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice in a cold place like the fridge often causes re-crystallization of
flavors that come with a high amount of crystals already. This makes vaping
difficult and often requires an entire new bottle.

It is also
important to avoid storing in places like the fridge because a lot of bacteria
festers there. Since water condenses in the head-space above the e-<a href="”>liquid,
it is particularly attractive to bacteria. The low temperature of the
refrigerator could also cause the <a href="”>liquid to begin clumping, which is difficult
to deal with.

It is better to be
safe than sorry. Storing your e-<a href="”>liquids outside of the fridge and in a cool,
dark location will ensure you are going to have a good vaping experience. If
for whatever reason you have to store it in the fridge, limit its exposure to
the cold and artificial light as much as possible. Only put it in the fridge if
you know you are going to be vaping it quickly afterward. But if maintaining
high quality and clean e-<a href="”>liquid is a priority of yours, go ahead and steer
clear of the fridge.

A Vape Tank Battle: Disposable versus Rebuildable Vape Tanks   no comments

Posted at 5:00 am in Uncategorized

When it comes to using a vape
tank, there are various options available for most vapers out
there to use. A primary question that arises is whether to use a disposable or
a rebuildable one, and what this even entails. We are going to explore disposable
clearomizers, rebuildable dripping atomizers (RDAs), and rebuildable tank
atomizers (RTAs). We’ll look at what they are, how they work, and the pros and
cons of each.

* What
are disposable and rebuildable tanks? *

Clearomizers: These tanks are very popular
nowadays. They are cylindrical in shape and the tank itself usually either
contains clear Polycarbonate plastic or a Pyrex glass tank. Through the tank,
you can see the level of <a href="”>liquid inside of the clearomizer. Their usage is
simple: the user fills it with <a href="”>liquid and subsequently can vape directly. Newer
clearomizers allow for sub-ohm vaping.

Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer (RDA): Allows for
sub-ohm vaping. Is a user-constructed setup with wicks and coils, in which
<a href="”>liquid is dripped directly onto the coils then vaporized.

Rebuildable Tank Atomizer (RTA): Something of a
hybrid between an RDA and a clearomizer, an RTA is a tank that the user can
build coils on.

* How
each works *

Clearomizers: The user adds <a href="”>liquid to the tank and can directly
vape once a coil is added.
Dripping Atomizer (RDA):
The user
buys wire and cotton and uses them to create the surface upon which the
<a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>e-<a href="”>liquid is dripped.
Tank Atomizer (RTA):
The user builds
the coils using wire and cotton, and this is placed on the tank. The tank
itself holds <a href="”>liquid in amounts comparable to clearomizers.

* Pros of
Each *

Clearomizer: A clearomizer is the easiest to use of the above tank
setups. Overall, they require very little vape knowledge. They can hold a
considerable amount of <a href="”>liquid.

Dripping Atomizer (RDA):
This setup
easily offers the largest vapor production of all three setups discussed here.
In addition, it allows for richness of flavor. The user can switch between
flavors during a session without the taste of the last flavor lingering.

Tank Atomizer (RTA):
This setup
offers very solid vapor production and flavor. Because of the presence of the
tank, it is able to hold a lot of <a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice, much like a clearomizer can.

* Cons of
Each *

Clearomizer: Easily the priciest of the three setups discussed
here, especially since it does not allow for longevity.

Dripping Atomizer (RDA):
Does not
have as much <a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice capacity as the other setups. In addition, this requires a
fair amount of vaping experience and knowledge, since wicking is required.

Tank Atomizer (RTA):
vapor production
and flavor not as good as an RDA. Similarly, to an RDA, requires a solid
knowledge basis in vaping in order to be able to use.

We’ve seen what disposable and rebuildable vape
tanks are. The disposable option, the clearomizer, was seen to be a solid
choice for novice vapers and for convenience and <a href="”>liquid storage. This however,
comes with a price tag. The rebuildable options, the rebuildable tank atomizer
(RTA) and the Rebuildable Dripping (RDA), were both seen to be less pricey
options than a clearomizer. Both also required extensive vaping knowledge to be
able to use. The RDA was seen to be the more solid in terms of vapor and flavor
but the RTA was better in terms of vapor storage and convenience.

Vaping Battery Choices and You   no comments

Posted at 5:00 am in Uncategorized

Vaping is a satisfying alternative to traditional cigarettes and its popularity constantly grows. Like all new technologies though, battery life can make or break your entire vaping experience.

The range of battery life in available devices today are what you might imagine: from charges that last a few draws to those that can give you an entire day of constant vaping! Similar to cell phones batteries, these types follow the traditional rule of “the bigger the better.” You may see smaller e-cigarette style batteries which typically don’t offer as much battery life and flexibility as say for instance MODs, which can be up to the size of a cell phone. There are batteries that are somewhere in between those too, commonly called “pens”, because that is about the size they are.

With regular use, an e-cig-sized battery can last a few hours and requires rotating with other spare batteries to ensure availability. This doesn’t go into the topic of refillable tanks or “cartomizers”, but with this size vaping unit, you will likely be refilling on a regular a basis (or more!) as you are switching out your battery.

Pens typically last up to half-a-day with regular usage and usually have a tank attachment that you <a href="http://<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>fill with your preferred e-<a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice. Charging these is typically done with a micro USB cable that can be either attached to a PC or to an outlet.

The option that offers the most flexibility in regards to length of available time to vape are usually in MODs, which are larger (usually still pocket sized) batteries with options to control temperature, power output and airflow options. Because of these factors, you are able to have extended battery life for the most part. (NOTE: If you are sub-ohm vaping, you’ll need to have the right MOD for it, and the proper battery that can handle this style. This is because you would be vaping below 1ohm.)

Each of the battery options available to the vaping community can fill the needs of casual vapers, hobbyists and “hard-core” users alike. It is worth investing time to research and shop for the battery that is right for your vaping needs here at Vapin’ in the Cape.

4 Ways to Keep a Fellow Vaper on The Right Vaping Path   no comments

Posted at 5:00 am in Uncategorized

Hobbies are always more fun when you
have people to share them with, and vaping is no different. The community
vapers have built is amazing, full of kind and knowledgeable people everywhere,
and it’s always exciting to see it grow. When you meet a new vaper you have a
chance to help add them to that community, and here are four ways that you
should go about it:

Engage them in conversation about vaping. Everyone loves connecting
with others about a hobby, it’s one of the primary ways people make friends! Of
course, it’s important to be mindful of people who don’t want to be approached,
I don’t advise asking people to take their headphones off so you can ask them
about their MOD, but when you see someone blow a cloud who looks like they have
a minute to spare, ask what their setup is like. When you ask about their device
or where they like to buy their e-<a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juice (hopefully from Vapin’ in the Cape) or
anything vape related, and you both enjoy the conversation, which just adds
another positive memory for them to associate with it.

Let them taste the flavor(s) you have at hand. Variety is the spice
of life, a phrase as true today as it was when it was first penned in 1785.
It’s common for people to pick a few flavors they like and rotate between them,
I’m certainly guilty of it myself sometimes, but with a new flavor comes a
whole new experience. Every time I taste a new flavor I imagine the
possibilities of what else could be delicious, I think of the better <a href="<a href="”>liquid_c_7.html”>juices
I’ve tasted already, and I get excited about the whole range of flavors
available. More than once tasting a new flavor has prompted me to add something
new to my collection. How about you?

Offer advice on things that they may not know. A lot of people are
sold nice equipment with features that they aren’t exactly sure how to take
advantage of as new vapers or vapers entering a different aspect of vaping.
It’s easy to take a few seconds to clarify what effect adjusting your wattage
can have or what the difference between differently rated atomizers can be; but
in that moment you’re the representative of what will be seen as a friendly and
welcoming community!

Be friendly and genuinely interested! Perhaps the most important
point on the list. Common advice, to be sure; but important all the same. The
real goal is shared enjoyment of a hobby, and there’s no surer way to go about
that than to be exposed to a new friend on the way. The same way that smokers
get to know each other outside of bars, restaurants, and offices across the
world, our love of vaping is a bit of commonality between us all and that’s one
of the greatest things about it.

Ultimately, the best way to help ensure a fellow vaper stays the course and
keeps fighting the good fight is to help them make their experience a positive
one. By sharing information, fostering new experiences, and providing a good
social experience you don’t only help keep others on the path, you’re reminded
why you love it so much yourself.

Why We Fight For Vaping   no comments

Posted at 5:00 am in Uncategorized

We turned in our last set of keys today for our retail locations. It was a tough decision, and I was certain there would be many tears as we locked the doors for the last time. But something amazing has been taking place! Over the past two weeks, as word got out that we were closing down our retail stores, Scott and I started to receive emails, chats, Facebook messages, and phone calls from YOU! We were bracing for your disappointment. We expected a small amount of gloating from some who predicted our demise because we wouldn’t allow children in the stores, or ‘community cartos’ for sampling, or because we had customers sign Liability Waivers when they were purchasing a lithium ion battery. But none of that happened. Instead, what we received was immense support and encouragement to keep going! My tears aren’t of sadness; my tears are from overwhelming gratitude for YOU. 🙂

One of our newer employees asked us to tell him about some of the most unusual customer interactions we’ve had over the past six years, so I thought I would share here too.
There was the 80-something year old lady that we met early on in our vaping venture. Scott met her back before we had a retail store, and we were selling kits out of the back of his 1992 Honda Accord. She had been smoking for 56 years. Now, I can’t relay the entire story of what happened due to FDA’s regulations, but I will tell you that she was the first one who came to us a month after vaping and wanted a big hug because vaping was a godsend for her.
I recall a married couple coming into the 47th Terrace location one night to check us out (and by “us”, I’m pretty sure they were checking me and Scott out to make sure we weren’t scammers LOL). The wife was probably the most skeptical person I had met. She started on the 4081 model (the model BEFORE the 808s that everyone loved). I remember she wanted a pink set of batteries. She left that night, amazed that this little device looked so much like a cigarette, but didn’t quite taste like one, and had no lingering smell (not that any of us could smell in those early days). The next day, they both came back in to the store as ‘true believers’. They eventually upgraded throughout the years, then slowly weened themselves off vaping altogether. I remember feeling such joy for them for meeting their goal of quitting.
One of my favorite stories involved a guy who was a 2-pack a day smoker. He was not impressed with the size of the eGo style batteries. He wanted to kick the habit using an 808 kit. I talked with him for a while, and told him that I was a 2-pack a day smoker too, and I started with “the one that looks like a cigarette”. I was charging batteries so often that it was driving me insane. So when the eGos came out, I was all over it. I told him that I would be happy to sell him whichever kit he liked, but based on his smoking habit, I didn’t think he would be happy with the 808. He felt certain he would be. He came in the very next day, with a big smile, and said, “yeah…I want the bigger battery”. It was funny. We had a good laugh for years over that.
Not all of our stories were done face-to-face. Some of you we got to know online and over the phone. I remember one sweet lady who used to call once a week to order online. She was the friendliest, funniest, most-storytelling customer I ever met. Guaranteed that we would be on the phone for an hour or more just talking. We loved talking to her too. This was back when Buddy would work the phones with us too, and we all had a good story to tell when we got off the phone with her. She was a blast.
Anyone who has ever worked in customer service will have bad experiences to share, but in trying to come up with some, I found my mind wandering toward all of the GOOD that we’ve experienced. It was a struggle to remember the bad. Not that it didn’t happen, but when you have so many fantastic stories to tell, why focus on the bad ones? Look, we all know what it’s like when you can’t get a good hit on your vape device. I know that I’m not that pleasant to be around when it happens to me, and I completely understand what it’s like when a favorite flavor is out of stock, or a trusted battery isn’t working, or your coil isn’t firing correctly. I hope that you all know that I’m not going to take it personally if you get testy, and I’m certainly not going to dwell on the ‘bad’. Our goal has always been to find the solution that makes you happy. When we fail, we strive to learn from it. But when we get it right, we want you to trust that we’ll always try to strive for that.
To my point of this post: we are still here. We may not get to talk face-to-face, but we will chat with you anytime. I can’t speak for anyone else, but vaping saved me from a life of coughing fits (every night, you guys!), stinky hair, yellow fingers, and burn marks on my patio table. We’ve seen and heard how it’s changed your lives. We may have a ‘big company’ looking website, but we’re a small, family-run vaping company. We know where you are in your vaping journey because we’ve been there ourselves. We will continue to do our part in fighting to keep vaping safe and legal for everyone.

eGo One Mega V2   no comments
